Dr. Hurd’s strengths lie in developing sustainable community interventions and programs that address community oncologic challenges and their associated social determinants. For over a decade her research has focused on public health-health disparities with a strong emphasis on community based participatory research in addition to personal and health system factors that contribute to health disparities. The integrated clinical and public health and research skillsets will enable significant contributions. Dr. Hurd’s experience developing, implementing and embedding sustainable, complex, multi-site cancer screening and education programs in rural/frontier Hispanic/Latino and African American populations.
