Professional Title:
Professor, Department of Public Health
Bio:
I am a social epidemiologist and focus on social determinants of health. The people I train and mentor are overwhelmingly first generation to attend college and/or people of color. My research career started at UCSF where I was a National Institute of Aging K01 awardee (AG027273) and a pilot grant recipient in the UCSF Resource Center for Minority Aging Research. From 2012 to 2017, I was a co-lead of the training core for the UCSF Comprehensive Center for Excellence for Health and Risk for Minority Youth and Young Adults (CHARM). For CHARM, I co-created a two-course tract for training in health disparities research.
